Celebration

On the 16th July a celebration of the career of Jakki took place at Bishop Heber. 2 messages, one from the principals of Bernardo de Balbuena and one from Teresa were read out. Here is a short video and the messages in Spanish and English. Trevor

Entre tanta celebración por la copa del mundo en este país, parece que no hay nada más, pero queremos unirnos a vosotros en otra celebración, la que está teniendo lugar ahora mismo.
Estas palabras son para agradecerle a Mrs. Jakki Moxon su trabajo a lo largo de los años con el Intercambio entre nuestros colegios.
Han sido muchas, muchas horas dedicadas a sacar adelante cada año esta actividad.
Y aunque ver su resultado es el mejor reconocimiento al trabajo realizado, queremos darle las gracias a Jakki en nombre de todos los jóvenes que a lo largo de estos 16 años han establecido lazos de amistad con sus compañeros y familias inglesas y han aprendido lo importante que es conocer otras costumbres, desarrollando actitudes de respeto y entendimiento, destrezas tan necesarias en una sociedad global como es el mundo hoy en dia.
“Descubre que es lo que te gusta y céntrate en ello”, le aconseja Franc McCourt a una joven profesora suplente en su libro El Profesor, para sobrevivir en el aula. Tú lo has hecho, y lo has sabido llevar al éxito utilizando gran parte de tu energía e ilusión al tiempo que cuidabas de tu familia, de hecho nos has acogido en ella, tanto a alumnos como a compañeros. Y nos hemos sentido ….como en casa.
Como profesores tenemos que decirte lo fácil que es ( y lo digo en presente porque seguimos y seguiremos) trabajar contigo. Siempre te has mostrado abierta a realizar un cambio o buscar soluciones a un problema.
Si hasta ahora le has dedicado gran parte de tu tiempo libre… piensa que a partir de este momento vas a tener mucho más, guarda un poquito para echarnos una mano si fuera necesario, por favor….
Tu ayuda nos ha hecho más fácil nuestro trabajo a nivel profesional y tu amistad a nivel personal es algo de gran valor para todos nosotros.

So busy as we are celebrating the Football World Cup in our country, it seems that there is nothing else. However, we want to join us in another celebration, the one that is happening right now.

These words are to thank Mrs. Jakki Moxon for her excellent work through all these years in charge of the exchange between our schools.

She has dedicated many, many hours to carry out such activity ever year, and although seeing the result is the best reward to her work, we want to thank Jakki on behalf of all the teenagers who have established a close realtionship with their partners and English families and they have learnt how important is to know other customs developing attitudes of respect and understanding, skills which are very useful in a global society like the one we live in nowadays.

'Discover what you like and focus on it', Franc McCourt advises a young substitute teacher in his book The Teacher to survive inside the classrom. You have done it and you have known how to turn it into a success using a great deal of your energy, illusion... at the same time that you were taking care of your family. In fact, we have taken us in as a part of it and we have felt...like at home.

As teachers we have to tell you how easy is to work with you ( and we speak using the present tense, because we continue and will continue doing it). You have always shown yourself open to change anything or to look for some solutions to any problem.

If you have dedicated to this activity a great amount of your free time until now, please from now, as you are going to have much more free time, keep a bit of it to give us a helping hand, please...

Your help has done our work easier from a professional point of view, but your friendship, from a personal view, is something of a great value for all of us.

Dear Jakki,

We, as the people in charge of the Bernardo de Balbuena, share the gratitude to your work through all these years as our mates have dedicated to you.

From our view, we want to thank you for the exclusive devotion which you have always shown for the exchanges to be a success every year, as a result we have the 16 years with this activity.

We hope and wish you are very happy in a new stage in your life.

To end...

We are looking forward to sitting around a table together in the square in Valdepeñas and instead of ordering a bottle of water for you, we could drink a toast to our friendship with a glass of good wine from Valdepeñas.
